…and all because of some silly “shh“?
Since when is whispering a crime?!??
KBS is at is again, pulling up their “ban” wagon (…get it?) and axing yet another song they have deemed inappropriate. This time newcomer idol group BEAST’s song “Yet” has been banned from broadcast.
The reason for the ban isn’t that the lyrics are actually inappropriate. Rather, it’s the song’s potential to be misheard that has KBS all in a tizzy. All the trouble stems from a single line of the song which, translated, goes:
The loneliness surrounds me as I spend the night in tears, oh shh”..
KBS seems to think that the song’s “shh” sounds a bit too close to a certain swear word.
A representative from CUBE Entertainment, BEAST’s agency, has spoken up about the ban, saying , “Of course the phrase was not used as a curse word.” However, as of yet CUBE Entertainment has not appealed the ban.
So, should the track have been banned or has KBS taken things a bit too far this time ? You decide.
Listen to “Yet” here and judge for yourself ~
