So it begins~
With the startling and disappointing news of 2PM’s Jae-bum quitting the group in the fact of criticisms over past derogatory MySpace comments, the Hottests have mobilized themselves in support of their idol group.
On September 13th, the Hottests scheduled a silent protest in front of theJYP Entertainment building to persuade JYP to allow Jae-bum to return. Over 1,500 fans came out and filled the streets and sidewalks with their signs, as well as discarded 2PM CDs to illustrate their boycott. It was also announced that the Hottests were going to start up another petition to bring back Jae-bum.
The protest, however, ended earlier than planned. The scheduled time frame for the silent protest was supposed to be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, but originally the Hottests only expected about 500 people to show up. So when more than 1,500 fans showed up, it became too big of group for the protest organizers to feel comfortable with and they were a big traffic hazard. Therefore, the organizers called it off at 4:00 PM and encouraged fans to go home to ensure their safety.
As much as I support 2PM fans for their devotion to “7=1″ or any idol fans in general, sometimes I wish their energies and orchestrated efforts could go toward something more humanitarian; they could probably accomplish a lot.
Still somehow all this seems a little ridiculous. As much as I love Jae-bum in 2PM, he is an individual first before the group. Allow him to make his own decisions whether to leave or to come back.
