…and 2AM’s Jo-kwon is set to take his place.
Recently, comments discovered on 2PM leader Park Jae-bum’s Myspace account have gotten netizens all riled up and, although Jae-bum has already released a public apology posted on 2PM’s fan cafe, it seems more drastic measures are being taken to help alleviate the situation.
For starters, Jae-bum and 2PM (as a group) will be taking a break from the spotlight. On September 7th, a JYPE representative revealed that 2PM will end all scheduled promotional appearances, saying:
For the time being, 2PM will not have any broadcast schedule, and all scheduled events will also be cancelled. But the recording for their album and dance practice will still continue accordingly.”
In lieu of all the current drama, 2AM’s resident shimmying diva, Jo-kwon, will be taking Jae-bum’s spot in the filming of the MBC Sunday Sunday Night historical program “Nodaji“. This has been confirmed by both JYP and MBC. It is not yet known whether or not Jo-kwon will become Jae-bum’s permanent replacement on the show.
The decision to replace Jae-bum, however, has been in the works for a while and is not solely the result of Jae-bum’s recently revealed comments. In actuality, netizens have been questioning the singer’s appearance on the program for quite some time, claiming that the American-born singer simply doesn’t know enough about Korean culture to be able to host an historical program. His recent inability to recite the country’s national anthem has only added fuel to the flame.
I, for one, think some time out of the spotlight will be good for the singer. It will give him a chance to think about things (and maybe learn the national anthem). Netizens will also get some to cool off and, most importantly, find someone else to pick on!
