POP@Events: WonderGirls Showcase
And Singapore’s Wonderful rejoice…
The quintet had a showcase on 18 June at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Though it was a short performance, it sure was an impressive one. After an hour waiting, the show finally began. The host of the evening, Jamie Yeo, loosen up the crowd with some games and prizes. Three dance machines fans had to copy a segment of 2DT dance choreography, whichWonder Girls themselves demonstrated albeit, on a large screen. Guess who won? A guy with Shakira-esque hip routine. The funny one always liven up the crowd, don’t they? Since the show was sponsored by Sony Ericsson, that lucky dude walked away with a brand new phone.
Moving on, the crowd went ballistic as their idols stepped on stage. A short simple greeting was drowned by a harmonic masterpiece, courtesy of the fans. They sure do have a riveting vocal range. We were pretty convinced that, Mariah Carey stood beside us.
Some lucky bidders got to shake hands with the Wonder Girls and one brave soul decided to go for a hug. The crowd screamed or cheered, at that decibel, we couldn’t tell the difference.
The hellos ended and WG went backstage, after which the show finally began.Lights dimmed, music came on and 2DT music video appeared on two large screens. We naively thought the girls were gonna appear half way through the video but they didn’t. The video ended, and fans rejoice as Ye-eun’s melodious voice illuminate the room. Let’s cut it short, they started the show with 2DT followed by,Don’t cha,So Hot, This Time,Nobody and ended with Tell Me.
After performing This Time, the girls went backstage to change into theirNobody outfits. During that short intermission, they showed behind-the-scenes clips. Everybody screamed when they showed former member,Sunmi, on screen. And the screams grew louder as other celebrities voiced their support for the girls. Especially, when it’s Rain’s turn.
Having seen Wonder Girls about 4meters away, we have to say they are divine. We thought, Ye-eun,Yoo-bin and So-hee were the prettiest in person. Sunye‘s live vocals were solid, so were Ye-eun‘s. But we can’t say much for So-hee and Hae-lim. We enjoyed the performance, atmosphere and witness for the first-time the lung power ofWonderfuls. Check out some of the performances below!
