MC Mong gets stalled in the desert

MC Mong and Leessang had a press conference scheduled for this afternoon at the Oxford Hotel in Los Angeles, CA for their concert “Seoulful”. Unfortunately due to car troubles MC Mong got stuck on his way to the hotel from Palm Springs after a photoshoot, while Leessang members, Gary and Gil had their own problems with delayed flights and other shooting schedules such as MBC’s “Infinity Challenge” respectively.

Although we could not interview them today, we found out other good news for you West Coasters. Entitled’s Managing partner David Kwon sat down with us and gave us a brief teaser of the other concerts that are coming up this year and answered the ever present question why Jay Sean.

P.S. Why Jay Sean for a concert that is called “SEOUL-ful Concert?”
DK: Originally we had MC Mong and Tiger JK locked but what happened is Tiger JK had a contract going with an American production company so they’re now working on an album. So instead they gave us Lessang. We felt that they wouldn’t be a big enough pull. So we decided to do something different where East meets West [for the first time] and this is just the beginning. We have four more concerts coming up, including a potential one for Kim Jong Kook, Mighty Mouth, and [some American artist] and three other ones for [sometime at the end of the year]. [Thus] we felt like given MC Mong’s crowd (25-35) and Leessang’s crowd (35-40) we wanted to bring in the younger crowd as well and thus given Jay Sean’s popularity now we invited him.

P.S.: Do you think this will help Korean artists break into the market?
DK: We feel there is a growing trend in the Korean American community. With Rain’s breakthrough, we’re trying to help more artists come here and perform and showcase a live performance to their fans. [And because] right now a lot of Korean artists are wanting to come to the States and [because] nobody has been helping them out we now have direct relationships with both Korean artists and American artists who actually want to work together.

Looks like it’s going to be an eventful year for Korean and American artists. Stay tuned for concert coverage. We’ll be tweeting live on Twitter and if you haven’t joined our fanpage on Facebook yet do it! We’ll be giving away more prizes there.
