YG Entertainment’s female group 2NE1 has been chosen by Mnet as their“Artist of the Year.”
This is huge, considering 2NE1 made their debut earlier this year in May with their hit song “Fire.”
Goom Gi-hoon, Head of Mnet.com has stated

“This was the year of the girl groups and 2NE1 was always a hot topic ever since their introduction as the female Big Bang.”

Based on Mnet’s music charts that were tallied from January 1st to December 10th, it was clear that 2NE1 deserved the artist of the year award. Before their official debut, 2NE1 started off with the popular Lollipop mobile phone campaign alongside Big Bang. After their debut, they had multiple hits with Fire, I don’t Care, In the Club, and individual hits such as Park Bom’s You and I, Sandara’s Kiss, and CL and Minzy’sPlease don’t go.
