Can this be?
Hero Jae-joong, Xiah Jun-su and Micky Yoo-chun of idol group, Dong-bang-shin-ki have taken their management company, SM Entertainmentto court to dispute their air-tight, “lifelong” contract.
And the Seoul Central Court ruled in favor of the boys. Their 13 year contract with the entertainment giant (in Korea) was considered as a “lifetime” contract and that the terms in the contract were not considered reasonable. As a result, in 2 weeks time, their contracts with SM will be invalid. In addition, the 3 amigos will be starting legal action on profit distribution, i.e. SM is taking too big of a chunk.
Now the boys are free to pursue individual activities and/or partner up with other management companies.
Although this sounds good on paper, do you think SM will allow them to be “free agents”? The entertainment industry in Korea is extremely small and tight-knit.
