Kim Yuna wins gold

Figure skater, Kim Yuna (pronounced “yoo-na” in English) performed flawlessly, despite having the weight of all of Korea (and the world) on her shoulders. The 19 year old not only snagged a gold medal for Korea but also set an Olympic record with a score of 228.56. Her dazzling display set off a collective cheer around Korea at around 1:30pm local time.

Kim Yuna is the first figure skater from Korea to win a gold medal in the Olympics.
