Smart move or losing out on a great opportunity?

On January 22nd, JYP Entertainment released an official statement notifying the Wondergirls World that their cute little weirdo, Sun-mi, was leaving the group. This news came suddenly and unexpected to fans, but the reason behind the decision really isn’t. Sun-mi is bowing out of Wondergirls to continue her education, which she left indefinitely earlier in 2009 to pursue an American debut.

Young soon to be back in high school Sun-mi will be replaced by JYP traineeHye-rim, who has been training three years for “Chinese Wonder Girls”. Hye-rim is known for being multilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and English. This choice seems largely motivated for the Wondergirls to include an “international” member for China market.
